Hi, I'm Paige.
I didn't plan on becoming a health coach. I became one out of necessity.
I grew up on the Standard American Diet (S.A.D.) —in my 20’s I lived off pizza and beer (not thrilled to admit I even smoked cigarettes - which always shocks people who know me today), have/had a legendary sweet tooth (aka…sugar addict). Then I became a mom. The moment I found out I was pregnant with my son Ian, I started questioning everything — not just what I was eating, but what I was putting on my skin. I was shocked to discover how little of what's in our everyday products is actually tested for safety, and how many ingredients I'd been using for years were known carcinogens. That was my first real awakening. I just didn't know yet how much further it would take me.
When Ian was born, he spent ten days in the neonatal intensive care unit on heavy doses of antibiotics. Conventional medicine saved his life — and I will always be grateful for that. But once we came home, the cycle began: side effects from one medication required another medication, which created new symptoms, which required another. I had a sickly baby and a stack of prescriptions that weren't making him well, and I felt helpless.
So I did what I'd later come to recognize as the work itself — I started researching. I learned that the antibiotics that had saved Ian's life had also wiped out the good bacteria in his gut, and that we needed to replenish it. This was 1996. "Gut health" wasn't a phrase anyone was using. But it was the path that finally turned his health around.
A woman named Abby changed everything. She owned a little health food store in Tampa and became my guide. With her help, I watched my son get healthy, not just stable. I was so excited about what I was learning that I started sharing it with other moms — and seeing their stories light up sent me deeper. Years later, I made it official and became a health coach, accredited through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition.
Then it was my pup. At six months old, three specialists told us he would have to be put down. I applied the same principles that had helped Ian. My pup lived to six and a half years old.
Then it was the foster dogs — coming in with bald patches and flaky skin, walking out shining within weeks of changing what was in their bowls. To round out my approach, I studied canine nutrition through Dog's Naturally University and earned my certification as a Pet Food Nutrition Specialist. I'm currently completing my Real Food dog nutrition coach certification.
Then, eventually, it was me. Years of stress and old habits caught up with me and I developed my own gut issues. Doctors couldn't tell me what was wrong. So I did what I'd always done — researched, tested, made lifestyle changes, and walked myself out of what I jokingly call "bubble gut prison."
Somewhere in all of this, the same lens started pulling me into bigger places. When I moved back to Florida after four years in California, I noticed something I hadn't seen in years — those little yellow "Danger — Don't Walk on Lawn" signs poking out of nearly every yard. I'd just spent four years walking my dogs across a beautiful, green, non-toxic lawn and an organic garden I'd never touched with chemicals. I couldn't unsee it. So I founded SafeScapes, a lawn maintenance company that used electric mowers and fed the soil without synthetic fertilizers, herbicides, or weed killers — because the families and dogs walking on those lawns deserved better.
It's all the same story, really. What we put in our bodies, our dogs, and our soil matters. We have more agency than we've been led to believe.
I started understanding that everything I'd been taught to do first was actually meant to be done last.
I teach women to trust themselves again. To read their dog. To read their own body. To stop outsourcing every decision to an expert and start partnering with the wisdom that's already there.
Wellness is a state of balance. If our environment is not healthy, we can't be healthy. Be a conscious consumer. Every time we spend our money, we are essentially voting — for the world we want to live in. We have more power than we've been led to believe.
If you're tired of overwhelming, fear-based pet wellness content that makes you feel like you need a degree to feed your dog — welcome. You're in the right place.
